The occasion was well attended by students, staff and other guests and stakeholders

Among those who attended were the Acting Vice Chancellor IMSU, Prof. Mrs Victoria Adaobi Obasi, the Deputy VC (academics); Prof. C. Ubochi, the dean student affairs, Prof. Anthony Okere, the students' staff adviser; Prince Sam Ezeanyika, the special assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha on social media, Mr. IK Ogbonna; 2008 SUG President, Comrade Noble Nnadi; 14th republic SUG president Comrade Ogbu Christian Great; the Eze Umuakwukwo Comrade Sector; the G5 team, the University Electoral Commission led by Samuel Mbagwu, all the 13 new SUG executives and many more others too numerous to mention.

In attendance also were
Comrade AIC akwarandu, G5 team, Comrade First Choice, Capacity, Igwe Chimereze (15th rep ), Igwe lake, Ahaneku Ekene (14th republic DOI).

While speaking at the occasion, the Ag. VC of Imo State University, Prof Mrs Adaobi Obasi congratulated the elected officials. She asked them to be careful and avoid being used by miscreants. She asked them not to be distracted by ex-students who see themselves as permanent stakeholders and have no good to offer.
She reminded them to remember their stay is short and hence should maximize their time. She also promised that the school management is fully in support of the students and the SUG and adviced the excos to work with, not against the management.
She appreciated the Dr. Sam Ezeanyika, the UNECO, the DVC academics, the G5 and all others who worked for the conduct of a successful SUG election.
Mr. IK Ogbonna who spoke said the IMSU alumni contributed in resuscitation of the IMSU SUG which was inactive for more than a year because of the importance of the Union which he said has helped to put former IMSU Students into government at the higher level. Among them are Uche Nwosu who is now the Commissioner for lands, Imo State.
