The Potters have tied the Nigeria striker down until June 2016 and have included an option of extending it by a further 12 months
Peter Odemwingie has reached an agreement with Stoke City over a new contract that will keep him at the Britannia Stadium until June 2016. The Nigerian striker who joined the English outfit in 2014 has scored five goals in all 23 appearances for the Potters and has now been rewarded with a further one year deal and will play a part in the 2015/16 campaign. Odemwingie returned from an eight months long injury to first team actiion against Sunderland in April and could only manage eight league appearances last season. His initial 18-month contract at Stoke expired this summer, but the club has moved to keep him for another season with an extension option of 12 months. "He suffered an unfortunate injury last season after making a big impression immediately after joining the Club," Stoke City Chief Executive Tony Scholes told the club's website. "Peter has worked incredibly hard to battle back from this to regain full fitness. He's a popular figure not just in the dressing room but with Club staff and supporters so we are thrilled to keep him on board this season." Since moving to Britannia Stadium, Odemwingie has recovered his form and earned himself a recall to the Super Eagles featuring at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil where he netted the winner against Bosnia & Herzegovina.
